Why Are More Women Getting Licensed?

Queens, I NEVER talk about politics nor do I promote the NRA or anyone else's thoughts; however, I wanted to get your views on this topic because it won’t let me rest. It keeps haunting me, in print, on the radio and now on television.

Where it is election time, I have been hearing many discussions about gun control and the new population that are applying for gun licenses and carrying concealed. Of course, I didn't understand what was the big deal but the population being discussed is the same population of women that helps the blue team win elections and we know the blue team is anti-gun laws.

Queens, studies have shown that we (not “they” and “them” this time) are in a position to affect change "big time" on how people view gun laws and whether they continue to only see the negative or see some positives in being a gun owner🤔.

Again, you can see how this to be viewed as a conflict of interest, when many of us vote Democrat. But what about the many studies and reports that have shown that Queens have stepped up their purchasing power of firearms and have a different perspective? Do they overlook their new found freedom and feelings of equality or do they concede and roll with the masses? Check out the below articles and you tube clip. They will provide insight on some of the things discussed.

Black Women Are the New Face of American Gun Ownership

Now I have been licensed to carry since my daughter was four and I can relate to some of the same reasons that women are now getting licensed; they are single and need a way to protect their families, PERIOD. A mother will do just about anything to protect her children...When it was just my daughter and I, I couldn’t imagine not being able to protect her living alone in the middle of gang territory. We used to get home all times of the night when I had to work. Unfortunate for me, I lived in a city that would only give someone that looked like me a license for sport or hunting. I wasn’t able to legally carry concealed until moving to the suburbs, a republican town.

Female Owned Gun Range......

Black Gun Owners have mixed feelings about the Supreme Court Concealed to Carry Ruling

Again, I am not posting to talk politics get anyone to shift to pro-gun laws etc. but do you not find it interesting that this particulate change in culture that may POSSIBLY level the playing field is worthy of Harvard studies and it's news worthy? Many things that should be headliners or reported on different media are overlooked, so I am a bit confused with this. I wonder is this a warning to say look out, these bitches are now armed and dangerous? Will we have more issues or incidents like Sandra Bland or Breonna Taylor because they will fear for their safety, now more than ever, because we have the means to defend ourselves? What does this mean for us? Yup, this was eye opening for me too..and yes these are scary questions to even consider, but this is real life shit that we should be talking about together. Harvard’s talking about it; why can’t we? I struggled with writing this because I know this is not most women’s jam (ya know-discussing real shit) but I said I would be unapologetically me.

Liberal, Female and Minority America's new Gun Owners Aren't Who You Think

Sooooo…….If you dare, drop your thoughts/comments/ tell me to screws, in the comments or if you are on the mobile app drop it in the chat. I can't be the only one who is thinking about this stuff.

For others that are thinking about getting licensed and don't know where to start, I did some of the work for you. Some states are different but if you are thinking of to applying for a license here in Massachusetts see below:

Things you will need to know:

LTC (License to Carry)

  • The LTC permits the purchase, possession and carrying of large-capacity handguns and transporting rifles, shotguns and Large Capacity feeding devices.

LTC Information

  • Your current LTC will be valid until its stated expiration date.

  • New applicants must be 21 years of age or older to obtain a LTC.

  • LTCs are valid for 6 years.

  • The fee for an LTC is $100.00. (Fee Chart)

  • Strict new eligibility requirements now apply. Please contact your local police officials for details.

For more information:

To apply for a Resident Firearms License:

  • You must apply for a resident firearms license to carry or firearms identification card through the police department in the town where you reside.

  • A complete resident firearms license application

  • The required application fee

  • A Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course certificate

  • A form of identification

  • Proof of residence

  • Contact your local firearms licensing officer for specific information on the application process.

For the application or more information:

Queens-if this wasn't for you, maybe the next one will be but in the meantime stay true to what you believe in and let it guide you to your path of success. You may stray or meet seasons that toss you too and fro but hold on knowing change is on the side.

Until next time,

Thank you bringing this to the forefront…Honestly I’ve never wanted a license to carry (maybe it’s because my husband does🤷🏽‍♀️) or thought much about this topic BUT now you got me thinking❤️

Thank you for your response always! It is funny you say that you never thought of it because your partner carries; that is the same way my husband always felt. He was never a fan or even thought of owning a firearm. He always said it was enough that I did. But something shifted when he began to consider the days that I wasn’t home and he was left with our daughter. He knew he couldn’t rely on law enforcement to respond if something was to happen in a neighborhood in which we were new. As life changed, his perspective changed. Food for thought.

Thank you for your support and valued feedback. The hard conversations are what help me learn. My hope is that others will share opinions with resource to allow this to be a safe place for those that have not thought about topics as such.
